Dear Tania,
I have received your letter just today. I am completely disappointed to know your examination result. You have mentioned in your letter that there is lack of good books and peaceful atmosphere at your home so you could not study properly. Here is the solution to your problem.

I know of a famous public library in your locality. Go there and get a membership today. Public libraries are open to all and you can go there anytime to study peacefully. It is a very useful institution. You can read a huge number of books on various subjects and can even borrow books. It is an appropriate place for close and careful study. You must visit the library as frequently as possible. When you will find so many readers there intent on books you will naturally develop a desire to read. There are journals, newspapers and magazines also in libraries. So going to library, will help you develop reading habit. Now you can pass your leisure time by going to the library. It will surely become your best friend, philosopher and guide.

এইমাত্র আমি তোমার চিঠি পেলাম। আমি খুবই হতাশ হয়েছি তোমার পরীক্ষার ফল জানতে পেরে। তুমি তোমার চিঠিতে উল্লেখ করেছ যে তোমার বাড়িতে পড়াশোনার জন্য শাস্ত পরিবেশ ও ভালো বইয়ের অভাব, তাই তুমি ঠিক মতে পড়তে পারো না। এই চিঠিতে রইল তোমার সমস্যার সমাধান।
আমি জানি, তোমার এলাকায় একটা ভালো পাবলিক লাইব্রেরি আছে। সেখানে গিয়ে আজই সদস্যপদ গ্রহণ কর। পাবলিক লাইব্রেরিতে সবাই যেতে পারে আর সেখানে তুমি শান্তিপূর্ণভাবে পড়তে যেকোনো সময় যেতে পারবে। ওটা খুব উপযোগী প্রতিষ্ঠান। তুমি লাইব্রেরি থেকে নানা বিষয়ের বই পড়তে পারবে, এমনকি বই নিতেও পারবে। ওটা নিবিষ্ট মনে পড়ার জন্য আদর্শ জায়গা। তোমার ওখানে প্রায়সই যাওয়া উচিত। যখন তুমি ওখানে আরও অনেক পড়ুয়াকে বইয়ে ডুবে থাকতে দেখবে, নিজে থেকেই তোমার মধ্যে পড়ার ইচ্ছা জেগে উঠবে। অতএব লাইব্রেরি নিয়মিত গেলে তোমার মধ্যে পড়ার অভ্যাসও বিকশিত হবে। তাই এবার থেকে নিজের অবসর সময় লাইব্রেরিতে কাটাও যা লাইব্রেরিকে করে তুলবে তোমার বন্ধু, পথপ্রদর্শক ও শিক্ষক।

Sir,
I would like to request you to kindly allow me the privilege of the columns of your well-circulated daily to express our anxiety and concern over the disturbances caused by the thoughtless use of loudspeakers.
Since invention loudspeaker has continued to storm into every nook and corner of the universe rendering it to a heart-rending, painful experience for us. It has evolved, today, to such different forms and dimensions that any occasion, be it a minor family get-together, picnic, puja or political gathering, a loudspeaker is a must. This is giving rise to more and more noise pollution which in turn is paving the way for deafness, inattentiveness, brain damage and other chronic diseases. Individual protest is useless but often risky in the face of local rowdism.
Rules and laws cannot heal the wound without mass-awareness. So the Government and the authority concerned, voluntary organisations, social workers and educated individuals should join hands to control and curb this menace.
